🌿 Complete Cleanse Programme - Medical Herbalists Recommend

A Health Maintenance and Gentle Detox Programme

Herbal Support

A Complete Cleanse is the ideal herbal formula to use as part of a detoxification and health maintenance programme.
It supports the body’s natural cleansing pathways by improving circulation and lymphatic flow, enhancing liver detoxification, flushing the kidneys, and promoting healthy bowel motility. These actions work together to aid the elimination of waste products and improve the nutritional supply to every cell of the body.

It is a perfect example of an alternative preparation, with its gentle effect of detoxifying, cleansing and eliminating.

This programme is particularly beneficial for chronic inflammatory conditions affecting the digestive, respiratory, musculoskeletal, immune or skin systems — such as eczema, arthritis, infections, or autoimmune imbalance.
For longstanding conditions, herbalists may recommend following the programme over an extended period — approximately one month of treatment for each year the condition has been present.

To maintain good health, use for two to three weeks twice yearly (in Autumn and Spring) as a general aid to metabolism and to assist in the elimination of toxins that may have accumulated in the body.

Recommended Dose:
Take 2.5 to 10 mL of the cleansing formula up to three times daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Dietary Guidance

A health-supportive diet should be simple, wholesome, and based on fresh, seasonal whole foods.

Key principles:

  • Choose foods in their natural form — whole and unrefined.

  • Eat fresh, in-season produce for your locality.

  • Select organically grown foods, when possible, to reduce chemical exposure.

  • Include both cooked and raw foods daily.

  • Enjoy animal protein occasionally — treat it as a garnish, not the main portion.

  • Limit tea, coffee, and processed takeaway foods high in salt and fat.

  • Eat fish weekly and vary your foods to broaden nutrient intake.

  • Chew thoroughly and avoid eating when emotionally upset or angry.

Sweeteners & Salt

  • Reduce or avoid artificial sweeteners, refined sugars, soft drinks, and confectionery.
If sweetness is desired, use honey, maple syrup, or dried fruits instead.

  • Added salt is rarely necessary if processed foods are minimised.
If needed, choose sea salt or Celtic salt, or flavour meals with tamari, shoyu, or seaweeds.

Water

Drink plenty of purified water and reduce or avoid soft drinks, coffee, tea, alcohol, and cordials.

  • Drink two glasses on rising, again mid-morning, and two hours before bed.

  • A glass half an hour before meals support digestion — avoid large amounts during meals as this may dilute stomach acids.

Healthy Fats

Not all fats are harmful.
Reduce animal and processed fats but include “good” fats such as:

  • Olive oil for cooking

  • Cold-pressed flaxseed oil for salads

  • Avocado, tahini, and almond paste as butter alternatives

Always read food labels and avoid hydrogenated or trans fats.

Fruit & Vegetables

Eat a wide variety of colourful vegetables, especially dark leafy greens.
Steam lightly to preserve nutrients.
Enjoy at least two pieces of fruit daily, between meals for best digestion.

Skin Brushing

The skin reflects inner health.
Before showering or bathing, brush dry skin using a natural bristle brush or loofah, starting at the feet and working upwards towards the heart.
This 5-minute routine:

  • Stimulates lymphatic flow

  • Improves circulation

  • Exfoliates dead skin cells

  • Encourages healthy skin renewal

Breathing

Deep, diaphragmatic breathing enhances oxygenation and relaxation.

Try daily:

  1. Diaphragm breathing: Inhale deeply into the solar plexus for 5 counts, exhale fully. Repeat for 2–5 minutes.

  2. 4-4-4-4 breathing: Inhale 4 seconds → hold 4 → exhale 4 → hold 4. Continue 5–10 minutes.

Electromagnetic Balance

Modern life surrounds us with artificial electromagnetic fields.
Reconnect with the earth by walking barefoot on grass or sand, gardening with bare hands, or spending quiet time in nature to rebalance the body’s natural energy.

Exercise

Regular movement (30 minutes, 3–4 times weekly) boosts energy, circulation, mood, and sleep while supporting healthy metabolism and skin tone.
Find what you enjoy — walking, gardening, swimming, dancing — and make it part of your weekly rhythm.

Positive Thinking

A healthy mind supports a healthy body.
Practice gratitude, laughter, and positive affirmations such as “I am vibrant and well.”
When negative thoughts appear, consciously replace them with positive ones.
Each week, do at least one activity that brings you joy and contentment.
